Reflexology for Perimenopause and Menopause

October is menopause awareness month, so the perfect time to shed light on how Reflexology can help those suffering from symptoms linked to menopause and perimenopause.

As a woman approaches menopause, her body starts to go through some changes. She may notice a change in her menstrual cycle, as well as hot flashes and night sweats. She may also experience mood swings, difficulty sleeping, and weight gain. Perimenopause refers to the time during which your body makes the natural transition into menopause, marking the end of the reproductive years. Menopause begins after around 12 months without menstruating and usually occurs between the ages of 45 -55 yet this can be much earlier for some women.

Each woman's experience of menopause is unique with some sharing no, or only a few symptoms, and others having much more severe symptoms.

These may include mood swings, anxiety, depression, poor concentration, aches in joints and muscles, weight gain, an increase in facial hair, an increase in cholesterol, and an increase in stress.

So how can Reflexology help?

One way to take care of yourself during perimenopause and menopause is to try Reflexology. Reflexology is a form of massage that focuses on the feet and hands. It's based on the principle that these areas are connected to different parts of the body, and that manipulating them can help to relieve stress and tension.

Regular Reflexology can cause a decrease in anxiety, depression, insominia, hot flushes, and night sweats and alleviate some of the most common menopause symptoms by manipulating the pineal, hypothalamus, and adrenal reflex areas.
